A Celebration

I could have been folding laundry
or making the bed
or preparing lunch
sweeping
vacuuming
or unpacking another box
but instead
I shaved my legs
put on white capris
and painted my toenails turquoise blue
(which doesn't suit me)
because
yesterday
I saw the forsythia blooming
and today
the sun is shining.
